About Us
The Arm Care Academy is the broken down into three phases: Diagnosis, Recovery, and Activation. Each of the phases have specific meaning to them.
The Diagnosis Phase
The “Diagnosis” phase consists of two phases of its own: Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Y-Balance (upper and lower quarters). Once we’ve collected the numbers from FMS and Y-Balance, we put the data into software called Move2Perform. Once we’ve entered in all of the data from both the FMS and Y-Balance test into Move2Perform, it will analyze the players balance, symmetry, and movement patterns.
After we analyze the data from these tests, we will provide you with recommendations and a program to improve your current weaknesses and functional limitations designed to decreased risk of injury and improve sports performance.
The Recovery Phase
The “Recovery” phase will be the days to come in after you have pitched in an actual game and are doing stretches, table exercises with light dumbbells, electrical stimulation, ice, and cool-down exercises. These 1 to 2 days after they have pitched the night before will start off with a warm-up to get the blood flowing and static stretching to reduce tightness in the body. Then, the player does shoulder and arm specific exercises with light dumbbells, followed by, electrical stimulation, and finishing with compression and ice to decrease any inflammation and improve tissue healing.
The Activation Phase
The “Activation” phase are the days after the “Recovery” phase where the player comes in and starts off with warm ups along with dynamic stretches. Then they will go through 4 to 6 stations that they are assigned depending on which day they will come in. These stations consist of resistance bands exercises, medicine ball exercises, weighted ball exercises, body blade exercises, and table exercises. Finally, they will cool-down along with some stretches.
